Once I met one of the enrages of May 68, who explained to me that even
after that fateful day when De Gaulle returned from Germany and held
elections sweeping the right back to power, they still thought they
could continue the revolution in Paris where the movement was overwhelming.
Then August came and everyone went on vacation.
It is very difficult to overcome the large statistical trends. And it's
structurally impossible to have them on your side without becoming the
very power you would seek to overcome.
Better to probe very deeply, establish tight networks, experiment, risk
it all, and tip the balance at some specific points of possibility.
The most interesting thing about Facebook, by far, is that some people
could briefly use it to help start large uprisings.
Now let's help those same people go somewhere else and try something new!
