Amazon Orders 'I Love Dick' Comedy Pilot From Jill Soloway

I've learned that Amazon has given a pilot order to I Love Dick, a
half-hour comedy pilot directed and executive produced by Transparent
creator Jill Soloway, an Emmy and DGA Award winner for her directing
work on the dark Amazon comedy starring Jeffrey Tambor.

Written by playwright Sarah Gubbins based on Chris Kraus' influential
and somewhat controversial 1997 novel, I Love Dick is set in a
colorful academic community in Marfa, Texas. It centers on a
struggling married couple, Chris and Sylvere, and their mutual
obsession with an off-putting but charismatic professor, Dick. Told in
Rashomon-style shifts of POV, I Love Dick charts the unraveling of a
marriage, the awakening of an artist and the reluctant deification of
a man named Dick.

I Love Dick, Soloway's followup to her award-winning Transparent, is
produced by Soloway and Andrea Sperling's newly formed Topple
Productions under the company's overall deal with Amazon Studios.
Soloway and Sperling executive produce, with Gubbins co-executive
producing.

I Love Dick joins two drama pilots Amazon has in pre-production, The
Last Tycoon and The Interestings.

Soloway, Gubbins and Sperling are reaped at UTA. Soloway is also
repped by Jackoway Tyerman, Sperling by Linda Lichter.
