The American left convulsively loathes the current president of the US.
A pathetic disclaimer became popular: whatever the topic is, one must
mention that POTUS is horrible ("some of my friends are black".) The
reason is strictly commercial: he is saying the unsayble, serving the
unpackaged product, thus robbing the left of its principal merchandise:
cellophane that wraps the excrement.
In the latest example, a client state apparently butchered an
inconvenient turncoat, and POTUS said it's not a big deal (which is
accurate, in the sense it's customary modus operandi of self-respecting
states ... except that this particular one was likely a filmed false
flag op to make the hapless sheik cough up $450B.) Still, a human being
was killed by the visiting team, filéd and shipped out. Instead of
persistent denials (Abu Omar, anyone?) we got: no big deal. That was a
tectonic shift, the new normal. But the left didn't react. The public
acknowledgment of routine nature of consular meat packing is outside the
discourse. Even the reflexively Godwinian reactions (the level of left's
dissociation can be plotted over time with frequency of use of words
"nazi", "fascist" and such) were absent this time.
One could ask why would left concern itself with the criminal behavior
of principal players? The answer is simple: when the left stops paying
attention to emanations of the force monopolies, it's out of the
business of being left.
While speechless at the obvious, the left loudly believes that the
current POTUS was elected because the nation went insane, psychotic,
brainwashed, or simply CRISPR-ed into becoming genetically nazi, still
living in the times when Kabuki-style discourse was the thing. Echoes of
that drivel are bouncing around us: essays wading over the chicken
entrails of the past, terabytes stored, presented and argued. The fight
is confined to twice-removed ideological spaces, regarding increasing
numbers of natural, fake or post-op vaginas in places that matter as a
victory. It occupies the space and makes zero difference.
Maybe the identity politics was left's Doomsday Machine. Its fallout is
the only observable achievement.
Welcome to the post-cellophane world. Get a shovel.
