According to the Autoconf docs at "Specifying target triplets", --host is for "the type of system on which the package runs". Confer, https://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf/manual/autoconf-2.65/html_node/Specifying-Target-Triplets.html. Neither the latest config.sub or config.guess help. Nor does add -m64 to flags. I've tried both. Maybe someone can report yet another bug to the Autoconf folks that goes unfixed.
