I'm assuming that you are reimplementing the server using netty, and the existing clients are not liking the way your implementation packetizes the output.
It sounds like you need to construct your output from your server in one ByteBuf, then call writeAndFlush on that ByteBuf. Also, check out Netty's encoders and decoders, they should help you to get this right.
