Dear all,

First, it was Sarko's HADOPI. It was then followed by UK's three- strikes. In isolation these laws wouldn't have done much damage. But now these guys are forming a club that includes Japan, Canada, South Korea, Australia as well as the European Union and the U.S.

The law that is being negotiated is called ACTA. On the surface, ACTA seems like any other piracy-prevention law (good for copyrights), but, they give, or rather force, ISPs to snoop on their subscribers. And, the article confirms my fears: "At the moment it's just a coalition of the willing -- other countries will be pressured to sign up later once the agreement has gained the respectability of an international treaty".
