The Western Ghats Biodiversity Open Collaborative Information System or shortly Western Ghats Portal (WGP) is a joint project between French Institute of Pondicherry (www.ifpindia.org) and Strand Life Sciences (www.strandls.com), representing India Biodiversity Portal. WGP is being initially funded as a project by Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (www.cepf.net) for a period of 32 months. With the objective of "Connect, Share, Disseminate", the project will build a public information system that will aggregate biodiversity and conservation information on the Western Ghats. WGP will be a community owned, open access web portal which will network conservation community and will evolve as an important public knowledge base on Western Ghats. For this initiative, we are looking for a full time Project Manager for 30 months. The person, - will be a young, dynamic postgraduate or above in environmental sciences/ecology/life sciences - will have experience in project management, coordination with funding agency and generation of technical and financial reports - will possess strong communication skills; to be able to address a variety of stakeholders (govt officers, researchers, academia, students and civil society groups) to win over their voluntary participation in the project - should be aware of and subscribe to free/open source/open access/knowledge commons approaches in technology and scientific research domains - Research experience in Western Ghats will be appreciated responsibilities include, - Overall and successful implementation of the project in all aspects - coordination between project partners (IFP, Strand Life Sciences and subgrantees) - Reporting to funding agency - Providing leadership and participate in the campaign for collaborative participation of stakeholders in the portal Contact: Dr.B.R.Ramesh [email protected] French Institute, #11, St. Louis Street, Pondicherry 605001 Ph: +91 413 2334168
