The reason I say this, which fyi is totally against the grain for me, is that the choice of using gsm in the centralised fashion that it is currently deployed is more or less historical. The FOSS community as such has not participated in the very small protests against the continuance of the same model despite the vast oceans of corruption and non-performance in rural India till now. So the very ugly downside of centralisation now floats up like scum? There are FOSS-based solutions that are very grassroots-oriented in execution. But what is missing is a) a legal framework to run pilots b) teams to train and mobilise rural entrepreneurship agencies and perhaps most critical c) a sense that FOSS goes beyond a few apps here and there to the core infrastructure that determines how our society grows and matures through improved communication and equal (equitable) relationships. > > Best > > A.
