As we all know that the state of UP has got the unified state university once again under the name of UPTU, the CS and IT syllabus committee is now forming the new syllabus of second, third and fourth year of both CS and IT w.e.f. session 2014-15. Earlier, we had a separate university for west UP colleges and it was called MTU Noida. They had completely replaced all non free software with free software. The sad part is that MTU has been dissolved in UPTU now. Now these are new people mostly from Lucknow. The united UPTU Board of Studies for CS and IT is headed by Dr. Tripathi , HOD-CS of Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow. There are 6 academicians and 3 industry people ( one each from Adobe,TCS and IBM) in this board now. I request FSF India to formally approach Dr. Tripathi, Convener, BOS of CS & IT, UPTU Lucknow for conversion of non free software in their syllabus to free software. Their decision will impact the entire UP state which has more population than USA. I hope that FSF will consider this.
