IT for Change has been working with Karnataka Education department for
last six years promoting FOSS platforms and tools in schools. Based on
this programme, the Telengana Govt has asked our help to initiate
similar training in Hyderabad. Two workshops of five days have been
planned - 2-6 March and 16-20 March for maths/science teachers.
We will conduct the training on Ubuntu based educational applications.
For these workshops, we wanted the help of 2 local (Hyderabad) people,
who are comfortable using Ubuntu, to provide support to teachers in the
hands-on sessions. These two workshops are pilot efforts to get an idea
of the Telengana requirements/contexts and based on the learning, I
expect the Govt to look at a multi-year programme similar to what we are
doing in Karnataka (see
