Nor did he mention, or I agree with, the "feelings" that the organisations have. So I am not clear what we are disagreeing about. I do get "warm, welcoming" feelings from projects (gpsd, ntpsec) I am in; and I know of someone who got a very different feeling from the same projects. The gpsd project, as an example, is full of opinionated people, yet when I tentatively offered a patch, they welcomed me and taught me git.
