Last year Cherokee (an open source web server) got support for using Solaris event ports. IIRC Apache has support for that as well (but correct me if I'm wrong!). I should have further qualified the above to be "most ... where performance matters." Web server sw qualifies, I think. Ok, so maybe not "most" but certainly "some."
