I see this on S10 FCS:

# uname -a
SunOS tribble 5.10 Generic sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440
# ifconfig ce0:1 plumb 11.1.1.1/24 up
# ifconfig ce0:1
ce0:1: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
        inet 11.1.1.1 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 11.1.1.255
# ifconfig ce0:1 unplumb
# ifconfig ce0 addif 11.1.1.1/24 up
Created new logical interface ce0:1
# ifconfig ce0:1
ce0:1: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
        inet 11.1.1.1 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 11.255.255.255

Can you explain exactly how you tested this?
