Thanks a whole lot. I was not sure whether this (pci1317,0985) was the right
(vendor, product) ID b/c the number 1317 was assigned to ADMtek. But after a q

seems should be OK.

Now, is there any way I can install this aliases file during (or actually
before) Solaris installation?

There are several ways that come to mind, depending on how you install
Solaris. But the easiest and most lasting is probably to file a bug
and have the device_aliases file in Solaris updated.

One benefit that is not obvious is that adding this to the driver_alias file makes it easier to get the device or system certified in the HCL, instead of just reported to work. Getting certified still requires running the test(s).

But when looking for what hardware to get, there is a level of comfort in ease of installation if it is not just reported to work, IMHO. Let alone peace of mind in money spent.

(You could also use update_drv in a flash postdeployment script, or
even create a dummy package that does nothing but run update_drv.)
