I've read a few articles about the new Fire Engine stack but have not

if its at all possible to disable all interrupts from happening on a
processor yet allow only network interrupts and keep all networking i/o
on dedicated processor set. Kind of what you can do with processor
affinity for apps but only at the network layer.
Yes, this will be made possible by crossbow project
(http://opensolaris.org/os/project/crossbow/), still under development.
Project will be going to Beta in a week's time. Crossbow will provide
options to dladm command by which you can specify CPUs that a NIC should
use to handle incoming traffic. The command will re-target the
interrupt to one of the specified CPUs if more than one CPU is
specified and the network load will be distributed among the other CPUs.
