This is a great idea. I think that an API to create kernel sockets is a must in 
every serious operating system.  If you will look into other Unix-based 
operating systems, you will see usage of 
kernel sockets in really many places. And this need of kernel sockets seems 
only to grow in recent years in all operating systems, when apart from 
traditional networking tasks, the kernel IP stack is used for other tasks (like 
IP storage, security, etc).

We will be expecting it !
