I wonder if we could add more public properties in 2nd phase's scope. In the first stage, it focuses on bge/e1000g/nge, which don't have those tunables supported yet. It will be a problem for us to test those "stub" func then.

You might also look at eri, which is now a GLDv3 driver. :-) I'd not worry too much about nge, it has other issues. bge and e1000g are good candidates though.

For IPG tunables, I think they are useful in reducing collision rate on a half-duplex media. But with 1000M links and above, they are seldom works under half-duplex mode, unless a broken cable or so. So it seems to me these parameters are not as useful today as they were in the past.

I searched bug's database and found the latest bug regarding IPG was quite a long time ago(not s10 days even), which makes me think this feature is not heavily used by customer already.

Well, we don't know if anyone uses it or not. Probably not much... but it would still be nice to have them.

For the record, even e1000g has these tunables, whether they are exposed to userland or not, the hardware supports tuning.
