That's incorrect. See e.g., 5066515.
Corrected I stand. I guess I should spend time looking at the internals
of GLDv2 again. Its been a while since I've done that... mostly because
I've lost interest in GLDv2. GLDv3 offers so many other benefits that
the only reason not to use it at this point is if you need to support a
unbundled driver.
