I may be mistaken, but S10 is NOT opensolaris; if you have issues with S10,
you need to talk to the services organisation who are very well versed in

a few things you can do:
- man dhcp
- go to docs.sun.com and search for 'dhcp'.

my knowledge of dhcp is very limited, but I think you shouldn't have 
/etc/hostname.<NIC> if you want that configured by dhcp.

is that a typo?
