UMTS is strange.  It does the actual link authentication during IPCP
negotiation, rather than during PPP's authentication phase.

As a result, the authentication results are a fabrication: the server
reports "success," but doesn't actually check anything until IP is
brought up.

My guess would be that despite this message:

... your credentials are not correct, or perhaps you haven't set up
UMTS Internet service with your provider.

Note that the peer provided some DNS addresses (via the Microsoft-
proprietary IPCP extensions), but didn't provide any IP address for
you to use.  That's a fairly good indication that your credentials
(authentication data) are not right.
