Upon further review, you can also have both ends be on the same subnet.
ifconfig ip.tun0 10.2.3.1 10.2.3.2 .....
route add 10.2.3.0/24 10.2.3.2
and switch "10.2.3.1" and "10.2.3.2" in the above example for the other side.
