None of that seems to address what I suggested.

In any event, the description of the problem you've given is
substantially consistent with bugs in the "wpi" driver.  I suggest
contacting the driver team and getting an updated driver from them.
There've been several problems in this area.

That's just a guess.  Without the debugging information described in
the troubleshooting guide:

I don't think I suggested updating any packages, but I agree that this
is likely going to be necessary to fix the problem in the future.  If
the problem is a bad driver, you may need to find another interface in
order to download a fix for it.

But do get in touch with the driver folks, as it's possible that they
have some workaround for the problem.  The people who maintain the
wireless drivers hang out on [email protected] and
[email protected].
