Type "getent ipnodes <name>" instead. This is confusion created by
having two separate nsswitch back-ends, (because of fear that adding
IPv6-support to the "hosts" back-end would cause things to break) but
one FILES database for both "hosts" and "ipnodes" back-ends
(/etc/hosts).
The Sparks and Duckwater projects were going in a direction where this
was going to be simplified and fixed, but I'm not sure what the status
is.
