One more note that may be relevant: on this system /var/tmp is a separate zfs
dataset. In order for it to be always mountable (no errors due to clobbering), 
the mountpoint of the parent rpool/ROOT/snv_114{/var/tmp} is chmod'ed to 
be immutable unwritable.

(speculation) If ipfilter service does not depend on /var/tmp filesystem 
somehow, it may quite be trying to write into an r/o directory.
