Perhaps the most simple way would be to edit your Windows "hosts" file, located in %WINDIR%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts .
Other options include setting up BIND or another name server (perhaps in a zone on the Solaris box), or maybe settupg up Samba and announcing host's NETBIOS name. I'm not sure about domain mode implications, nor if this can be done with kernel CIFS.
