Just wondering, how is the 1MB number obtained? As an example
of client usage, I use VPN to connect back to the US Sun network
from Hong Kong. The path also goes through some NAT box. I
use a xDSL link with 30Mbps/10Mbps (down/up) speed. The RTT
is ~185ms to machines in Santa Clara. Even in the best case
scenario, I don't think 1MB buffer size is needed for bulk data
transfer. I understand that my xDSL link is probably on the slow
side. But I guess it is not that uncommon. Even doing BT around
the globe, 1MB is probably too much.
I think the default should be changed.
