Hello Quaker,

I've gotten further by following your advice.
I'm just not clear on the process to remove the SUNWural package I installed
and restore with OpenSolaris 09.06 live cd.

The process I followed was to shutdown and re-boot from the OpenSolaris 09.06
live cd.

After I did this I ran:
# update_drv -a -i '"usb148f,3070"' ural

The result is:

Sun Microsystems Inc. SunOS 5.11 snv_111b November 2008
r...@opensolaris:~# update_drv -a -i '"usb148f,3070"' ural

r...@opensolaris:~# svcs nwam

r...@opensolaris:~# dladm show-link

ural0 phys 1500 down --

r...@opensolaris:~# ifconfig ural0 plumb
ifconfig: cannot open link "ural0": I/O error
Since nwam is enabled, it will do connection for you automatically, try:

# svcadm restart nwam
# ifconfig -a --> see if there is a interface of ural
