We've seen similar (and worse!) results with flow control enabled on bge
in the past. I think bge has flow control disabled by default now, just
for this reason.
It should also be possible to disable flow control using dladm, which
might work better with other kinds of devices. (All devices which use
the common MII framework work this way. Granted, there aren't many of
them, and atge and yge are the only gigabit ones.)
