I totally disagree with this. I like NetworkManager for doing things in a new way, on a per-user basis. I can always go back and do things the other way. I can always use GUI tools to configure the old way as well.
The whole point of NetworkManager is to not have to be bound to the inflexible ways of legacy Linux networking.
