Nope, but it is known.
Dan and I have discussed the issue to no avail, although neither of us
have devoted serious effort toward a solution.
I _think_ you see a bunch of Gd/Gtk warnings on the console from
nm-applet when that little block appears, so maybe the bug is in gtk?
Or, if not, fairly esoteric ...
