Here is the /var/log/message again.

This is what /var/log/messages tells me:

Jul  5 08:08:02 localhost kernel:  sdc: sdc1
Jul 5 08:08:04 localhost hald: mounted /dev/sdc1 on behalf of uid 500

    This was me, user 500 mounting a USB 2 GByte flash card.

Jul  5 08:08:41 localhost hald: unmounted /dev/sdc1 from '/media/disk'
on behalf
 of uid 500

Here 40 seconds later I unmounted the thing.

Jul  5 08:17:45 localhost NetworkManager: <WARN>  nm_signal_handler():
Caught si
gnal 15, shutting down normally.

Here 9 minutes after I unmounted the flash card NetworkManager gets the
shut down signal 15.

Jul 5 08:17:45 localhost NetworkManager: <info> Caught terminiation
signal

Here it verifies it got the signal 15

Jul  5 08:17:45 localhost NetworkManager: <info>  Deactivating device eth0.

Here is where the Internet died.

Jul 5 08:17:45 localhost dhclient: DHCPRELEASE on eth0 to 192.168.0.1
port 67
Jul 5 08:17:46 localhost avahi-daemon[2409]: Withdrawing address record
for 192
.168.0.2 on eth0.

Here I was trying to ping and connect to the DSL Modem. Of course it
didn't work.

Jul 5 08:17:46 localhost avahi-daemon[2409]: Leaving mDNS multicast
group on in
terface eth0.IPv4 with address 192.168.0.2.
Jul  5 08:17:46 localhost avahi-daemon[2409]: Interface eth0.IPv4 no
longer rele
vant for mDNS.
Jul 5 08:17:46 localhost avahi-daemon[2409]: Withdrawing address record
for fe8
0::250:2cff:fea8:69f3 on eth0.
Jul  5 08:17:46 localhost avahi-daemon[2409]: Leaving mD

    The avahi-daemon I know nothing about.

Hope this might help. If anyone wants me to try to repeat the problem I
will be glad to do so.

Karl Larsen
