You actually snipped out the bits that matter :) I'd like to see what happens when NM starts up or when the card is inserted, which will print out something like this: Aug 12 15:05:07 localhost NetworkManager: <info> eth0: Device is fully-supported using driver 'e1000'. Try just running /usr/sbin/NetworkManager --no-daemon after stopping the one that's currently running.
