Here we go.

The following is routing table built by NetworkManager:

10.0.109.161 is VPN Gateway, 192.168.1.0/24 is my local network. Remote 
network is 10.1.0.0/24, but it isn't shown here - since all VPN devices 
are P-t-P from NM's point of view, the last rule is just enough to route 
all the traffic through VPN connection.

Correct routing table produced by OpenVPN daemon itself (without NM) is 
as follows:

Here we have an explicit route to remote network and correct default 
route via host 10.1.0.1 reachable through tap0.
