In fact, in cisco vpn client, we can choose tcp and udp. Normally I 
think in vpnc it is the same.
If it is not the case, then just forget about this question.

For the gate, yes, I can ping it. however, I don't know how to check the 
routing. You means DNS setting or anything similar? I tried to use 
traceroute www.google.com, I didn't get any answers for that
