i'm using a AR5212 nic in my laptop with madwifi-ng drivers and
network-manager + knetworkmanager (nm-applet is the same) and these options
should work (i have worked with wpa/wpa1 psk and enterprise and wep) and the
driver is good and work fine. i've never had problems since kernel 2.6.22,
when i put the board inside the pc.
