The old repo is on svn-archive.gnome.org in the same location; only a hostname update is required. There is no way with gnome SVN (according to bkor) to make the repo read-only except by moving it to svn-archive. Otherwise people could commit. I did update README and ChangeLog, but that's not enough to stop translators and other random commits that somebody might make.
