Hey folks,

I'm trying to use modemmanager in Ubuntu 8.10 but I'm not having a whole lot
of joy. I can install and run it but it doesn't seem to show up in dbus.
That is to say that a dbus-monitor doesn't display any traces when I start
modem-manager and qdbus gives the following:

cia...@feegle:~$ qdbus org.freedesktop.ModemManager
Service 'org.freedesktop.ModemManager' does not exist.
cia...@feegle:~$

I am new to dbus so it is more than likely I'm missing something obvious!

What I am trying to do is configure a headless system running Ubuntu 8.10 to
connect to the internet using a 3G dongle. Modem manager was recommended to
me due to support for the various quirks that seem inherent in these 3G
dongles. Unfortunately upgrading the system in question to 9.10 is
currently out of the question, and it is running headless so I can't use
network manager. I understood that I could configure it using DBus so if
anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks!

Slan,
Cian
