Hi. I think there's a strong case for bringing back if-pre-up.d and if-post-down.d scripts:
A) it's how ifupdown works, and network-manager is supposed to use ifupdown. B) it's essential for security to restrict firewall access for address association and before scripts in if-up.d, and between the time that if-down.d scripts run and when the interface is brought down. C) lots of packages in debian install scripts in if-pre-up.d and if-post-down.d that they expect to run. I filed a bug which references the bugs in debian and ubuntu: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=600167 Hoping to spur some movement on this. I have some firewall scripts I want to package up which depend on this. It doesn't seem like it would be hard, but I mainly do perl and I'ma little lost in the source. If someone can point me to the right place I'll prepare a patch. Thanks.
