Ok, at this point we need to do more debugging internally then. Are you able to rebuild the Ubuntu NM package? If so, please do that and see if you can reproduce the problem. If you can still reproduce it with your rebuilt package, then we can add a patch to print out what's going on in src/named-manager/ and isolate your issue.
