If you're really using the vpnc plugin, and not the openconnect plugin, then it's very likely this is the cause of your problems. VPNC uses IPSec to connect to the VPN gateway, which doesn't deal with the same negotiation for groups as AnyConnect. It also needs to be enabled in a different way than groups for use with AnyConnect in the Cisco device you'll be using (or at least, it was the case with Cisco ASA systems). On the other hand, openconnect supports the same VPN over SSL methods as the Cisco AnyConnect client. At least on Ubuntu, it worked quite nicely back when I was using it.
