Updating the firmware from "1.12.1Hd (Date: Feb 22 2007, Time: 09:20:28)"
to "2.5.2Hd (Date: Nov 30 2007, Time: 07:37:47)" also solved the problem.
So this was clearly a bug in the firmware.

pretty good about fixing stuff in their firmware updates.
I got a newer firmware from option.com but applying the update requires
Windows. So I will not be able to update and test until next week...
I've committed and pushed that patch anyway, thanks!
