Sorry, my fault. I was so deep into this that I missed to
tell the whole story.

I am verifying our usual Laptop setup for IPv4 and IPv6 auto-
configuration environments (single and dual stack). I hope to
find a one-for-all setup. The road warrior laptops are supposed
to run out of the box, regardless in what internet cafe network
they are plugged into. Similar to MacOS.

Sorry to say, but this is clearly beyond the capabilities
of some road-warriors.

After booting the laptop nmcli shows me a connection "eth0".
The method for IPv6 is set to "Automatic". Method for IPv4 is
"Disabled", as you might have guessed. AFAICS there is no
appropriate config file for eth0.

I have also seen a connection "Wired connection 1" instead,
with IPv4 and IPv6 methods set to "Automatic (DHCP)" and
"Automatic". There is no appropriate config file for this
connection, either.

It seems to me that both connections are provided by network-
manager somehow. My point is: I would like to make sure that
n-m gives me "Wired connection 1", as appropriate.

Every helpful comment is highly welcome
