True. Except the issue is that, in Debian, nothing is getting called to set up NTP for the NM change. This is http://bugs.debian.org/537358 http://www.guiguishow.info/categorie/administration-reseau/page/4/ and its links also describe the symptoms of the problem and a different, though probably not correct, Debian solution. Also, ntpdate is deprecated in favor of "ntpd -g -q".
