Hi Dan.

I use Gnome. Ubuntu's 14.04 default.

But I managed to make it work.

I deleted the section [vpn-secrets].
Now NM opens a windows asking for the passphrase. 
At least at home. Tomorrow I'll check at office.

Hope this helps someone some day.
