Hi, if you look at https://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/tree/clients/cli/devices.c?id=94200b03fe483f9d0df87483fa2f30301e2b9f31#n3258 you'll see, that the password is ignored by nmcli in case the AP has no security. Whether that is a bug or intended behavior, is up for discussion. Why would it be better to error out in this case? On an unrelated note: since you are using `nmcli device wifi connect`, have a look at https://github.com/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/pull/137 would that change be a problem for you?
