Hi, there is an initiative to create a Fedora Mobile Edition which will be using NetworkManager/ModemManager: https://pagure.io/Fedora-Council/tickets/issue/380#comment-757914
It is also mentioning that Plasma Mobile is considering ofono a legacy technology. This might be a good indicator that support for it could be removed from NetworkManager, too.
