I accidentally didn't confirm my email before sending the message yesterday, so I have seen one reply, but I'm afraid I can't directly reply to Dr. Halchenko.
I took a look at the super user link, but unfortunately I don't see any other adapter types that I can switch to. Also, I don't know how to locate the virtual box or vagrant file that the people in the link were talking about. I'm glad that someone has already dealt with this issue once, so I'm sure it will only be easier now that we've seen it's possible.
