for you and others who'd like to test it.
BTW, I believe the group decided not to add this to the 1.3 core a year ago because it
would have too many implications for testing, side effects, etc., and all the dev
effort was moving to 2.0. That's why I'm proposing maintaining it as a separate patch
for the rest of 1.3 supported life.
