SUPER! That's great news.
There is a saying in compression circles...
"The best way to compress data is to find a way to not have
to send it at all".
Same is true of compression filters...
The best way to intercept and compress the output of back-end
programs delivering data across a network that aren't using
compression is to do all you can to make sure it doesn't even need
to be done. The best place to compress dynamic output is
always the origin source.
BTW: How does PHP know to NOT compress certain MIME
types but only if it's a certain version of Netscape which is
known to not be able to handle the decoding? That's the 'smarts'
I was talking about that it doesn't have. It's pretty much an
'all or nothing' thing, I believe, which most people find inadequate.
