A couple of comments. Setaside is the wrong thing to do here. Setaside is called by every filter as we traverse the filter stack, so this will actually convert every file into a heap bucket before we ever get to the core, so we will never use sendfile. Also, we can't just do this for file buckets, we also need to protect pipe, socket, and MMAP buckets. I'll create a first pass at this patch tomorrow morning to show you what I am thinking about.
